We draw closer to God as we confess our need for God and as we listen for Spirit’s counsel. As we pray with and for one another we draw closer to one another and to God. When we pray for our friends, our city and the nations God hears and draws them to Himself.
Prayer changes us, that is, it places us before God in such a way as to allow God to speak to us and form us in the Way, Truth, and Life. This relationship is an Inward Journey of knowing God and being known by the Father. As we know and are known, God recreates us more into His likeness, and we are further healed as well as empowered by the Spirit. As we pray, God begins to show us His heart for others and teaches us to intercede for them. These prayers lead us from compassion to action as we ask God to use us and to make our mission an Outward Journey.
Prayer is essential to our community. Coastal is a people on Pilgrimage in the way of Jesus as we live, and move in this world. We believe God has brought us into relationship with Himself through Jesus to show the world His Kingdom. Jesus calls us to follow and we pray because Jesus was a person of prayer. If we are to follow in the way of Jesus and relate to others the Hope of the Kingdom, we are compelled to pray.
Every Wednesday at NOON-2pm the Coastal space at Bessey Corner (260 US Route 1) will be open for prayer needs related to our local body, City Church, as well as our missional calling into Greater Portland, Maine and the world.
Every Sunday before our Promenade Gathering of Worship, Judi Aho-Russ will be giving attention to hear from God for our congregation. Please feel free to join her in the Shed Cafe between 9:15-45. At 9:45am, the Music Team, Pastoral Staff, and other participants will pause for a few minutes of waiting on God to prepare us for our Gathering.
Submit prayer needs to be shared with the community by leaving a comment below or for more private requests, contact Judi Aho-Russ - firstname.lastname@example.org, an LBA member, or Pastor David at email@example.com.
Participate in a Coastal group or on the Promenade Gathering of Worship to ask for healing, be prayed over, or simply pray with other pilgrims who are seeking the Way of Jesus.
Nehemiah Night – Meets Quarterly -- The spirit of Nehemiah Night is meant to serve as a regular reminder that what we labor for and believe in is not hopeless, and that we are engaged in the missional work of building for God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
